چکیده

January, 2004, administration of measles vaccine was recommended between 12 and 24 months of age, instead of between 12 and 15 months when children have the greatest risk of contracting measles. There is no established system to check vaccination status on entry to the school systems. Strong political and social desire has to be inspired, and vigorous educational campaigns for policy makers and the general public are required. If there are clear strategies and prioritisation on vaccine policies, and a strong will to combat the disease, measles in Japan can be controlled. The great success of near elimination of measles on the American continents is strong encouragement. It is time for the Japanese government to regain leadership on this issue.

Effect of therapy switch on time to second-line antiretroviral treatment failure in HIV-infected patients

BACKGROUND Switch from first line antiretroviral therapy (ART) to second-line ART is common in clinical practice. However, there is limited knowledge of to which extent different reason for therapy switch are associated with differences in long-term consequences and sustainability of the second line ART. Second-Line Antiretroviral Therapy in Sub-Saharan Africa: It Is Time to Mind the Gaps

The delay between first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) failure and initiation of second-line ART in resource-limited settings can be prolonged. Increasing evidence links delayed antiretroviral switch with increased risk for opportunistic infection (OI) and death, particularly in patients with advanced HIV at the time of first-line failure. As access to viral load (VL) monitoring widens beyon...

Association of First-Line and Second-Line Antiretroviral Therapy Adherence

BACKGROUND Adherence to first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) may be an important indicator of adherence to second-line ART. Evaluating this relationship may be critical to identify patients at high risk for second-line failure, thereby exhausting their treatment options, and to intervene and improve patient outcomes. METHODS Adolescents and adults (n = 436) receiving second-line ART were a...

Predictor Factors for Treatment Failure among Patients on Second Line Antiretroviral Therapy

Second line antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen is used when patients fail their first line regimen. There are many factors such as non-adherence, drug resistance as well as virological and immunological failure that lead to second line highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) regimen treatment failure. This study was aimed at determining predictor factors to treatment failure with second ...
